A team of twenty PVS Mission volunteers traveled to Vidor, Texas in April to partner with Nehemiah’s Vision in repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey. We were blessed with the opportunity to help two families return to their homes after almost twenty months in temporary shelters. Ms. Germaine had been living in a FEMA trailer in front of her damaged home for the past year and a half. The week before our arrival, she had been notified by the government that her trailer was about to be taken away from her unless she was willing to pay $800/month to rent it. We were able to complete 90% of the unfinished repairs on her home. Carpet installers were scheduled to arrive the Monday after we left to complete the renovation. LeeAnn, a middle-aged mom of twin daughters, had been living in a temporary shelter behind her Hurricane Harvey damaged home since the storm. A full week of concerted efforts by our team members made it possible for them to begin moving in as we finished up on Friday. For the Clark family in Beaumont, we were able to complete about 70% of the needed renovations. We are praying for another team of volunteers to come and finish the job in the near future. Members of this awesome group of dedicated volunteers were Ben Baldwin, Amanda and Kenny Bing, Sylvia Brophy, Bonnie and Greg Clark, Teresa and Ken Dudley, Janet, Billy and Faye Fricks, Joyce Gray, Ethan Hall, Jerry Mincey, Missy Morris, Mike Southerland, Retha and Vaughn Stagg, Donald Stone and Rochanne Teems. We thank God for the opportunity to once again serve Him by serving others. We continue to pray that the light of Christ shone through us in such a way that those we ministered to saw Him and, as a result, will soon come to know Him as their personal Lord and Savior! Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank you, our dear PVS church family, for your prayers of intercession on our behalf. We couldn’t have done it without you!
On Mission With Him,
