“Anticipation” is a word that could describe the Christmas Season. Beginning with the Old Testabment prophecies about the coming King, until we read a description of Mary and Joseph making their way to Bethlehem; anticipation is the state of mind that frames this event. After the birth of Jesus, we see the excitement of the shepherds and wise men as they received the news that the Savior had been born.
Children live all year with anticipation of Christmas! They have gifts they want to give and receive, parties to attend (Happy Birthday Jesus) and family gatherings to enjoy. Parents and teachers have the task of restraining the children’s enthusiasm until Christmas.
You are invited to celebrate Christ at special services this month. The Church Choir and Children’s Choirs will present Christmas as PVS on December 8; the Orchestra and Handbells Candlelight service on December 15; and join the Praise Band for The Sounds of Christmas on December 22. I hope you are anticipating these events to worship the King of Kings!
Your Pastor,
Philip May
